Smack dab in the middle of our countdown is an arrest at a restaurant in Portland.
At around midnight on September 19, Minta Christopherson received an alarm from the main entry door of Beez Holgate Station, a SE Portland diner, with audio of metallic clattering. She dispatched Portland PD and continued to advise them of movement at the restaurant. At the same time, Minta could hear on the police scanner that officers were surrounding the building and catching glimpses of someone inside. A barking K-9 scared the burglar into running out the back door, where he was caught and arrested. There were no major damages, but the restaurant was a total mess. The suspect, who gained entry by prying open a kitchen window, is accused of trying to break into the cash register and was booked in the Multnomah County jail on charges of burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
