One person was arrested at a Portland Salvation Army warehouse after Sonitrol Pacific’s security system detected a threat August 15.
Operator Michael Young received the activation of the security system inside the warehouse about 10:30 p.m. He only heard the HVAC unit, but his monitoring experience led him to believe the ambient noise was masking the activity of an intruder. He called Portland Police.
Young continued to monitor the activity through live security audio while police were en route and heard faint voices. He kept officers informed of what was happening inside the warehouse.
Portland Police arrived in about five minutes and could see someone moving around inside the building. They entered the warehouse with a police dog and took the intruder into custody.
Special “thanks” to the Portland Police Bureau.
