Armed Robbery Suspect Apprehended

Sonitrol Pacific Arrests & Apprehensions

Monday March 28, 2011, at approximately 12:30 p.m., operator Lora Orsborn dispatched Portland Police when she received an alarm from the Front Counter Hold Up button at Southeast Coin & Jewelry. She was able to use our audio verification to alert police an actual crime was happening. Officers arrived within minutes and learned the suspect walked into the shop, sprayed pepper spray inside the store and displayed a handgun before taking an undisclosed amount of cash and collector coins.

Witnesses described to the police how the suspect fled the area on foot then got on a bicycle. Officers quickly combed the immediate area, located the suspect and after the suspect attempted to elude officers on his bicycle, he was taken into custody. Later, when being treated by paramedics for minor injuries, he attempted to run away again, while handcuffed but was quickly stopped by police.

Medical personnel treated the employees for exposure to pepper spray but nobody suffered any serious injuries. Police were able to recover all lost property and are holding it for evidence. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt.
