Rooftop skateboarding filmmakers caught
Sounds of crashing captured by Sonitrol Pacific audio sensors resulted in the apprehension of 10 people filming skateboarders on the roof of a Washington school September 8.
Operator Minta Christopherson received an activation from the school’s audio sensor based security system just before midnight. She heard sounds of movement from the area of the school locker rooms and wrestling gym, and called sheriff’s deputies.
When they arrived at the school, officers found and apprehended 10 people shooting a video. Six people were skateboarding on the school’s roof and four people were on the ground filming the skateboarders. The group did not have permission from the school district to film on campus, nor did they secure the required permits. The six skateboarders were charged with second degree trespassing and the filmmakers received warnings.
