Security audio of breaking glass leads to arrest of one

The “telltale tinkle” of glass breaking caught by Sonitrol Pacific’s audio security sensors allowed an operator to alert sheriff’s deputies of suspicious activity at an Oregon school, resulting in the arrest of one suspected vandal September 5.
Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received an audio activation from the cafeteria/gym area of the school just before 2 a.m.  He heard a brief, sharp clattering noise, followed by a “telltale tinkle sound of broken glass” and called sheriff’s deputies.  While on the phone with the dispatcher, Young heard loud bangs and suspected someone was trying to get inside.

Officers arrived on campus to find three broken windows with screens removed.  They located and detained several people, and took one into custody.

The school district was very happy with the response of Sonitrol Pacific and the sheriff’s department and future potential vandals will think twice once word of this arrest spreads.
