Entry Through Ceiling Detected, One Arrested

Police arrested a man suspected of breaking into a Seattle area Money Tree by going through the unsecured roof hatch of a neighboring Jiffy Lube and creating a hole in Money Tree’s ceiling October 19.
Expert Sonitrol Pacific Operator Jaime Maranville received impact-activated audio signals from Money Tree and heard very suspicious banging noises.  She immediately dispatched Seattle Police.
Police arrived within minutes to discover an approximately two foot hole in Money Tree’s ceiling.  After attempting to draw the suspect out of his hiding spot, officers went after him with force.  They located the man next door, inside the Jiffy Lube, and took him into custody.
According to police, the suspect entered the Jiffy Lube, a business not protected by Sonitrol Pacific, through an unsecured roof hatch and had been sleeping there.  He decided to force his way into the Money Tree, created a hole in the ceiling and dropped into the lobby.  When he found nothing of interest, he returned into the ceiling crawl space and made his way to the back office area.  The suspect riffled through cash drawers, office drawers and the Money Tree’s kitchen.  Although he found no cash, the suspect had food from the kitchen, random keys and gift cards Money Tree managers use to recognize employees on him when he was arrested.
