Black Friday Break-in Nets One Arrest
Clackamas County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested one person suspected of attempting to burglarize an Oregon high school the day after Thanksgiving when the school’s Sonitrol Pacific security system detected a break-in.
Award winning Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received an impact-activated audio signal from the school. A “loud bang” triggered the system and Young listened to real-time audio to verify the nature of the activation. He heard sounds of movement and called the sheriff’s department.
Deputies arrived at the school in approximately five minutes. They promptly located and took one person into custody.
A representative from the school credits Sonitrol Pacific’s electronic security and expert monitoring with keeping their losses to a minimum. The only damage appears to be one broken chair.
Unlike traditional burglar alarms, Sonitrol Pacific employs audio security technology to protect facilities. Audio sensors monitored by expert sound analysts allow for early and verified detection. Since 1978, Sonitrol Pacific has assisted law enforcement in the arrest of more than 4,990 suspects.
