Audio Sensors ‘Hear’ Giggling, Deputies Arrest Three

Giggling captured by Sonitrol Pacific’s audio security sensors led sheriff’s deputies to arrest three suspected burglars of an Oregon school May 13.
Sonitrol Pacific Operator Minta Christopherson received an activation of the school’s security system and listened to real-time audio to hear what was happening.  When she heard giggling and sounds of movement, Christopherson knew the alarm was valid and dispatched deputies.  She continued to listen to activity at the school while officers were en route and heard more voices.
Deputies responded quickly and in force to the verified alarm and took three suspects into custody.
According to a representative from the school district, the three had an old tape, some old slides and an expired alarm permit on them when arrested.  At least one of the suspects was under the influence of alcohol.
Sonitrol Pacific detects criminal activity frequently at this facility.  December 2007, two suspects were arrested; October 2008, two suspects were arrested; April 2009, two suspects were arrested; and May 2009, three suspects were arrested.
