Voices activate security, police catch 6
Voices inside a Tacoma area school activated the audio based security system and a Sonitrol Pacific operator sent police to arrest six people June 15.
Operator Bricia Mejia received an alert around 8:30 p.m. and listened to real-time audio inside the school to verify the alarm. She heard people talking and called police.
Officers located four juveniles and two adults who got inside the school by breaking a window. All six were taken into custody.
On June 15, Mejia’s actions resulted in a total of 12 apprehensions at three different Tacoma area schools in less than four hours. Even by Sonitrol Pacific standards, these are impressive statistics.
