Vandals detected, arrested

Sonitrol Pacific audio sensors’ detection of voices inside an Oregon grade school resulted in the arrest of two suspected vandals July 21.
Operator Minta Christopherson received the initial system activation from the school about 3:30 a.m.  She heard loud banging noises and voices, and called police.  Christopherson continued to monitor activity at the school while officers were en route.  She kept officers informed of the noises and talking picked up by the audio sensors.
Officers arrived on campus in minutes and used a police dog to track down the source of the voices.  Two men were arrested.
According to a representative from the school district, vandalism was the goal of the break-in.  When police caught them, the suspects had turned over desks, sprayed fire extinguishers and urinated in classrooms.
In May 2009, Three burglary suspects were arrested at this school due to a Sonitrol Pacific detection.  The district expects this second detection and arrest will help get the word out that the school is secured by Sonitrol Pacific and monitored by experts.
