Security video trumps suspects’ denial

Audio security sensors and surveillance video foiled two suspected school burglars’ attempt to escape arrest July 19.
Sonitrol Pacific Operator Tara Fulmer received an activation of the security system at a private school in Washington, listened to live sound being captured by audio sensors in a classroom, and heard someone ask, “what are you taking?”  Fulmer immediately called police.
The police were on scene in minutes and began searching for a point of entry.  Officers found kids playing outside the school and asked them if they had seen anything or been inside the school.  The kids told officers they had seen people in the school and thought it was unlocked.  Officers sent a police dog into the school to search for suspects, surrounded the school, and blocked off the street.  No one was found inside.  Officers again questioned the kids.  The kids continued to deny entering the school.

Soon after, a representative from the school arrived and he and the police reviewed a recording of the school’s security video.  Video surveillance reveled the kids had actually gotten into the school and police took two of them into custody.
