Police Dog Puts Bite On School Intruder
A police dog tracked down two suspects inside a school district’s administrative office after Sonitrol Pacific security alerted authorities to the intrusion January 6.
A Sonitrol Pacific operator received signal activations from the administrative complex and listened to real-time audio to verify the threat nature of the event. The operator’s experience and training in sound analysis convinced her of an intrusion in progress and she dispatched police and the school district’s school patrol.
Officer’s arrived on scene, found nothing to indicate a break-in and left. However knowing Sonitrol Pacific verifies alarms, a representative from the district stayed behind to check if someone was hiding. The school district employee spotted someone on the building’s second floor at the same time the Sonitrol Pacific operator received more alarm activations.
Police returned to the scene and sent a K-9 unit into the building. The dog promptly located two individuals and bit one suspect attempting to flee the scene.
To date, Sonitrol Pacific security systems have led to 4,846 apprehensions.
