Police Take Three Into Custody After Sonitrol Pacific Detection
Officers took three juveniles into custody under suspicion of breaking into an area middle school February 3 after Sonitrol Pacific security detected threatening activity at the school.
A Sonitrol Pacific operator received an impact-activated signal from the school and listened to real-time audio to verify the nature of the activity. She heard sounds indicative of glass breaking and immediately dispatched police.
When officers arrived at the school, they found two broken windows and entered the facility to locate the perpetrators of the damage. Police located three juveniles inside and took them into custody. The parents of the juveniles have come forward and agreed to cover the costs associated with the break-in.
More than 5,000 suspects have been arrested due to Sonitrol Pacific security since 1978. In 2008, 178 suspects were taken into custody after a call from Sonitrol Pacific. Of these, 25 percent were arrested before they got inside the secured building.
