Quick response limits vandalism
Police responded to a Sonitrol Pacific verified alarm and caught three suspected vandals at a Portland school December 11.
At 8:26 p.m., Operator Denise Smith received an impact-activated alarm from the school and heard “smashing type” sounds through the audio security sensors.
Portland Police officers arrived at the school four minutes after receiving Smith’s dispatch, and located and detained three young boys.  The three were released to their parents’ custody.
According to a representative from the school, the boys broke bottles around the building and got into the school through a door that had accidentally been left unlocked.  Once inside, they pushed over a bookshelf and created some messes, but police arrived before any more damage could be done.
