Audio Sensors Lead Police to Arrest Two

Police arrested two suspects after Sonitrol Pacific's monitoring center detected suspicious activity inside a Washington School August 8.

An experienced Sonitrol Pacific operator received an impact-activated audio alarm from the school and listened to real-time audio to verify the signal. She heard what sounded like a door being kicked in and called police.

Initially, when officers arrived at the school, they didn’t find any signs of forced entry and they began to clear the scene. However, the operator updated officers on sounds she continued to hear over the audio sensor sand the search resumed. Soon after, police located and apprehended two individuals outside, but near, the school. The two were charged with trespassing.

According to a representative from the school district, the school recently experienced a fire and several windows were boarded over. The suspects kicked in the plywood, reached inside and unlocked a door. No other damage was done to the school and nothing was taken.
