Police catch vandals on the run

Police chased down and arrested three people suspected of vandalizing a Washington school after Sonitrol Pacific security detected suspicious activity August 14.
After a loud bang set off an impact-activated security sensor at the school, Operator Michael Young listened to live audio and heard more crashing sounds.  He called the school district’s guard service and the guard asked police to join them in responding.
When they arrived at the school, police saw three people take off running.  Officers quickly caught up with the suspects and took them into custody.  Two people were charged with felony vandalism and a third was cited as a minor in possession of alcohol.
Vandals broke five windows at the school, causing more than $3,000 in damage.  Due to Sonitrol Pacific’s early and verified detection, and the fast response by police and the guard service, the suspects were arrested before they could inflict further damage.
