School Bashing Lands Two in Custody

Quick response by sheriff’s deputies to a call from Sonitrol Pacific's monitoring center kept damage inflicted by two kids with baseball bats to a minimum at an Oregon grade school April 24.

Sonitrol Pacific Operator Robin Goings received an impact-activated alarm from the school.  He heard banging noises and voices over the unique real-time audio sensors and immediately called sheriff’s deputies.

Officers spotted two juveniles when they arrived at the school.  The kids tried to run away, but deputies tracked them down and took them into custody.

According to a representative from the school district, the suspects were approximately middle school age.  They entered the school and began swinging away with baseball bats.  Although the two suspects attempted to damage anything they could hit, Goings’ fast dispatch and deputies’ quick response kept things from getting out of hand.
