Audio Sensors Activate, Police Arrest One
Portland Police arrested a man suspected of attempting to break into an office at the Grotto after Sonitrol Pacific’s audio security system detected suspicious activity April 20.
Expert Sonitrol Pacific Operator Michael Young received the audio sensor activation from the Grotto and heard sharp banging, followed by what sounded like glass breaking and called police.
Within minutes of the dispatch, police officers called Young to let him know they had a suspect in custody. The individual had been drinking and scattered a large number of beer bottles around.
According to police, the suspect tried to get into the Grotto’s security office by attempting to break through the door, but wasn’t successful. Sonitrol Pacific’s unique audio detection alerted police to the threatening activity before entry could be gained.
